Police, Fire, Farm, Small Business, and Second Amendment Leaders endorse Lawson for State Representative in Indiana House District 53
GREENFIELD, Ind. – Ethan Lawson, Republican nominee for district 53 state representative, earned endorsements from police, fire, farm, small business, and Second Amendment leaders, including Greenfield Fire Territory chief Jason Horning, the Indiana State Police Alliance, Indiana Farm Bureau, the Indiana chapter of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), and the NRA.
"Talking directly with neighbors across Hancock and Madison counties has been a priority for me since our campaign began in January snow, and I continue to hear firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing our public safety, agriculture and small businesses,” Lawson said. “I’m proud to stand with our farmers, small business entrepreneurs, and the first responders who put their lives on the line to keep us safe, and I’m committed to working alongside them to ensure they can thrive and succeed.”
Indiana State Police Alliance is a fraternal and benevolent organization representing more than 2,000 active and retired state troopers. The organization works with the Indiana State Police, the governor’s office, and members of the state legislature on issues of statewide law enforcement and public safety.
“Mr. Lawson supports us on critical law enforcement issues and brings a unique and necessary perspective to the Indiana House,” said Indiana State Police Alliance executive director Cory Martin. “His authentic leadership was a key reason our board voted to endorse his campaign.”
The Greenfield Fire Territory provides fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, technical rescue and fire prevention services to more 28,000 residents in Greenfield and Hancock County.
“I support Ethan Lawson for state representative because he not only makes public safety a priority, he encompasses many of the values that make our county and state a great place. He understands how essential firefighters and EMS professionals are to our quality of life, as well as the struggles local governments face in providing necessary services to citizens. He will work alongside us,” said Greenfield Fire Territory chief Jason Horning.
Indiana Farm Bureau's endorsement of Lawson recognizes his "support of policies that will foster a positive environment for agriculture and rural communities." Indiana Farm Bureau's nonpartisan AgELECT political arm backs "candidates who are willing to listen and engage in issues impacting agriculture" and its endorsements are determined through a robust grassroots process led by county leaders.
“Indiana Farm Bureau is proud to endorse Ethan Lawson in the 2024 general election for state representative of District 53,” said INFB President Randy Kron. “Agriculture is an integral part of the state’s economy, and we need elected officials who are willing to listen to and advocate for farmers and our rural communities. We look forward to working with Ethan in the future.”
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, announced the endorsement of Lawson from NFIB’s Indiana PAC. The PAC is comprised of NFIB Indiana members from throughout the state.
“We are proud to endorse Ethan Lawson, as he is a supporter of Indiana’s small businesses,” said Natalie Robinson, NFIB Indiana State Director. “This election cycle, it is crucial that we have strong pro-small business advocates in the General Assembly, and we are confident that Ethan will be one of them. He understands the labor challenges faced by Main Street and the critical need of a skilled workforce. We look forward to working with him and strengthening the small business economy in the Hoosier State.”
Lawson’s support of Second Amendment freedoms earned him the NRA’s endorsement and the highest rating the organization gives to candidates who have never held office.
Lawson raised crops to sell at farmers markets while in high school. Afterward, he learned a trade in a small business and worked to pay his way through college, earning bachelors and masters degrees in business. He is a civilian employee of the Indiana National Guard. He is married to Holly; they live near Greenfield.
Lawson was elected by voters in the May Republican primary to appear on the Nov. 5, 2024 general election ballot. Republican Rep. Bob Cherry is retiring from the seat, which represents much of Hancock County and a portion of Madison County including Pendleton and Fall Creek Township.
